“Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” I love this quote by Abraham Lincoln! Is happiness something you choose or is it environmental? I’ll let you figure that one out! But for the most part, I think I choose it! Yeah sure, I sometimes let my circumstances turn my emotions elsewhere (I’m human!)…that would just be down right creepy if I wore a plastic smile every turn of life. However, I like to think that I have made up my mind to choose happiness on a daily basis. It’s becoming effortless!
I have had a few confirmations on my happiness…” Mom, why are you so happy today?” My reply, “I guess Jesus gave me an extra dose of joy.” Her response with a nodding head, raised eyebrows and a grin “I guess He did!” Another time, “Mom, you are Disneyland, that’s what you are!” Now I’ve been called the happiest place on earth. What a compliment! And, I heard this many times from my kids that didn’t even grow up in this era, “Here comes June Cleaver!” After all, I do work on having a positive outlook. Gee whiz! I’m just happy to be happy! So...happiness…why not give it a try!
“Happiness lies in your own back yard, but it’s probably well hidden by crabgrass.” (Anonymous)
