First of all, I know what you are thinking, "that girl takes photos of everything!" You bet I do. Second, although I have let out a big, big sigh of annoyance, I am truly thankful now. Remember, as you continue to read, I truly am thankful!!
Let me start with yesterday...when getting into my car to go home for lunch, I found that our front left tire was going flat...oh the inconvenience of it all...having to take the car in to remove not only one, but two nails. Oh those little annoyances in life that disrupt it's flow...like, I was getting really, really comfortable about just having a smooth sailing life...no cares in the world life...just minding my own business kind of life and then, WHAM! I'm annoyed!! Like gas prices alone don't make you just want to yell at the top of your lungs "ENOUGH ALREADY!" So, when those little annoyances come along with the stresses of life, they feel larger than they really are... oh yeah, and I must admit that I didn't even have to take the car in to get the tire repaired...it was my hero, my knight in shining armour...okay, lets me honest, it was my cowboy in cow poop covered clothes, that saved the day and took the car in for me. I love that man!! Anyway, those little annoyances are just opportunities to smooth those character flaws in my life...like getting annoyed easily! So yes, it started with the flat tire yesterday...
But, today brought a new "opportunity" to shape my character...and here is what happened. I drove the car to work, and back home during my lunch break, where Lacee then took it to meet friends for lunch, and after lunch went to the store. She climbed back into the car, turned the key, and "click!" She turned it several times..."click, click, click"...then she was on her cell phone, in which is on it's last leg (another little annoyance) calling...no, not her father, but me. Like I know what's wrong with the car?! It sounded like it was the battery and lordy, lordy was I hoping that was what it would be...I guess my character needs a lot of building right now, because after several attempts to wish it into that very thing "it just needs a new battery," totally failed. Because, wishing really doesn't work. Has anyone else figured that out yet? Anyway, it wasn't the battery and our attempt to learn and understand the real problem, failed; it was time to call a tow truck (our car had sat there from 1:30 until 10:30...that's a lot of wishing).
Here is what I am thankful for...we have towing insurance!! Not only that, remember we have just returned from our 2200 mile road trip and traveled through several deserts. My mind kept going to, "oh I am so thankful this happened only a mile from home and not on the side of the road out in the middle of no-man's land!" God changed my annoyances to seeing the bigger picture (like He protected us by allowing the car to malfunction much closer to home), although admittedly I'm not usually very good at seeing the bigger picture. But, my thankfulness oozed all over our tow truck service man, Ricardo, that was only doing his job. I'm thankful that I'm safe, and not in those gang infested neighborhoods, Ricardo talked about when going on service calls at 2:00 a.m.! I'm thankful that even though we have no idea what the problem is (although I'd love to guess that it's the starter going out...I surely will let you know if I'm right), and it may cost through the wazoo, I'm thankful the vehicle is paid for so we can pay for the repair!! I'm just thankful, because whatever it will bring, I know that God will get us through it. He ALWAYS does! It might be another annoyance (oh yes, character building opportunity), but I know it will be okay. Life is good!
