Spring Fling...Cars

Spring Fling...Little Girl

Spring Fling

Two Saturdays ago, our church partnered with another for a community outreach...the Spring Fling car show, free food, booths, bounce house and entertainment. The turn out was fabulous! I was there taking photos of cars, people and puppy dogs. Well, hound dogs to be exact. She spotted me clear across the field and I fell in love!!

River Rock

This morning Cliff and I drove to Snelling (20 miles or so from our house) to a park, near the Merced River, that is littered with dredge tailings from 1907-1919 (or later). Our purpose was to gather enough small river rock to place in the bottom of our small fish pond. Cliff is standing on some of the tailings...

Mounds of tailings...

...mounds...

Cliff began to gather just the right size.

"Sweet!"

"Those are fabulous, Cowboy!"

"Just a few more..." Oh man, look at those masculine forearms!! Totally why I married the man!

"Perfecto!"

I on the other hand, had my hands full. Those garden gloves never were removed from my short's pocket. Nope...nada...nein! Why I was just too busy taking important shots of this whole river rock gathering experience.

I held a few rocks that Clifford had picked up...

Aw...some pretty flowers...

Like most places, this area is rich with history. This use to be an old logging mill called Merced Falls Lumber Mill...and like most history, the buildings become ruins.

On our way back home I spotted this house stored on a hill to be moved one day (our guess). It really has no significance other than I like the shot (taken while traveling 50mph).

Well, that pretty much sums up our morning!!

Vintage Trailer Rally #2

After we played at Montana De Oro St. Park, we drove to Morro Bay for dinner Friday night. This is what we saw outside our restaurant window...Morro Rock with the sun setting behind it! It couldn't have been more perfect!

Vintage Trailer Rally #1

Because I'm too lazy to rearrange the photos, this one should have come after entering the eucalyptus forest, so please pretend that that is where you find it. We found this egret when we first arrived at the beach in Monanta De Oro State Park.

We arrived a day early before the Pismo West Coast Village 2nd Annual Vintage Trailer Rally. So we visited Montana (Montanya) De Oro State Park (meaning Mountain of gold) coming from the flowers that bloom in the spring. To get there, you travel through a thick forest of Eucalyptus trees. Kind of neat, kind of creepy.

We were happy to arrive at the beach!!

The park is rugged...a naturalist dream.

On our way out of the state park...Eucalyptus trees

After the trailer rally we ventured to beautiful Avila Beach for lunch. The fog burning off as it came ashore at the points. Quite beautiful!!

Stay tuned for more trailer rally updates...

My Mothers Day!

My Mothers Day was...FABULOUS!! My first call was from my mother-in-law, Zelma, at 7:30 a.m. this morning. She definitely likes to get an early start on her well wishes. Then my son, Corry, called and it was truly a blessing since we haven't talked for quite some time. As I was on the phone with him my oldest daughter, Ashlee, called Lacee and stayed on the cell phone until I got off with Corry. I talked with her for a good amount of time and also talked with my grandson, Maycin. I love that boy!! I then called my Mom and it was good to hear her voice. Then, my youngest daughter, gave me a day off and cleaned my house!! I know, I know. Can you believe it? I was...well, just speechless! Cliff made a fabulous rotisserie chicken on the barby for dinner (it was out of this world). And, my only request for the day, "please can't we take some Mother's Day Photos?" I do own a tripod, but that is just way too easy to get a good shot. Cliff took his turn first at stretching his arm out and "SNAP!" "Not too bad, Dad, but let me try!"

So now Lacee stretches her arm out and, "SNAP!"

"Okay, okay, okay, people! Let the photographer of the family show you how it's done. Pay close attention, because next time you want to take a good quality photo of yourself, you'll want to take note. Okay, lets do this puppy now, and do it right! SNAP!!"

THE END!!

Around Our Yard

Just taking a little walk around the yard. Below is a bee, I believe, although it looks like a fly. It was buzzing around our tiny allyssum in one of our pots.

These bulb plants (I have no idea what they are called) bloom in clusters of flowers. they remind me of tulups...are quite pretty and they are loving this cooler weather.

When the water hand pump fountain isn't running on our cute little pond, it becomes very glassy. I happened to notice the glass floats reflection and loved it. Don't mind the algae growing all over them!
